Meet Brittany Brown – Memoirist, Writer & Storyteller

I’m Brittany—a writer, expat, and professional overthinker currently working on two memoirs. I write about love, loss, family, friendship, dating, mental health, trauma, and all the hilarious, heartbreaking, and messy moments in between.

Brittany Brown, Black author and writer, stands confidently with a red feather quill in a dramatic literary portrait by Boris Frantskevich.

I’m based in Sydney, Australia, by way of Reno, Nevada. I’ve lived in Australia since 2012, and yes, I moved here for love.

I’ve been writing since I was five, covering everything from music, video games, and TV shows to Harry Potter fan fiction (don’t judge me).

But my biggest dream has always been to write a memoir—because, honestly, my life is crazy.

Right now, I’m working on two memoirs (my story is way too big for just one!):

📖 A deep, emotional story about growing up as an only child with my mother—a story of family, generational trauma, ghosts and curses, mental illness, abuse, resilience, and survival.

💋 A wild ride through my dating life—how I fell in love with a gay priest, the many times my heart was broken, my once-ambitious goal to go on 52 first dates in a year, and my move across the world for love.

A few things to know about me:

  • I have a dry AF sense of humour, but I always smile through life’s chaos because my face card never declines.
  • I’m a devoted pawrent to four adorable cats.
  • I’m a video game nerd.
  • I’m a self-described extroverted introvert.
  • I have undiagnosed, but definitely real, ADHD.
  • I love travelling, spending time with friends, listening to music, singing karaoke (choir kid forever), and enjoying great meals!

Stick around if you love real, raw, and sometimes ridiculous stories.
